Australian almonds surpassed the official crop intake and hit a record high of 158,339 tonnes to the end of the December.

Export demand has driven these volumes with China and India leading the way.

These two nations, both with trade agreements in place with Australia, now make up 69% of total exports.

December sales were the largest seen since industry sales reports have been kept, up 56% on last year.

With two months of reporting left to round out the 2024-25 season it would appear carry-over inventory from previous seasons will drive volumes.

Pricing has also improved significantly since the start of the season which has enabled packers to get much better prices for low grade material.]
