Monthly global market reports were published last week by the Almond Board of California and Almond Board of Australia and stronger demand resulted in record sales for both origins.

Both the Australian and Californian industries continue to record strong growth compared to the previous year.

Australian shipments were up 8.6% and Californian shipments up 5.5% on the previous year.

Both publications reported strong shipments globally with Europe, India, China and the Middle East up on the previous year.

Pricing has finally started to firm after being in the doldrum for more than 18 months.

It should also be noted the US crop forecast of 2,600 million pounds is unlikely to be met with current receipts of 2,522 million pounds and almost all hulling and shelling completed.

Australian marketers were active at the opening trade show of the year in Dubai last month.

The Gulfood Trade Show is always an important event for new season almonds and 2023 was no exception with record numbers attending and widespread interest from buyers around the world.

The Australian industry has commenced harvest, once there is a clear picture an update will be provided.
