As the almond harvest begins to ramp up, so does the workforce who are shaking, sweeping, conditioning, picking up and carting almonds.
While it is an exciting time for the industry, it also means people are spending long periods of time sitting in machinery and working alone.
The Almond Board of Australia has created a podcast series specifically for harvest called Shake, Rattle and Roll.
It showcases almond growers and harvest workers from the Adelaide Plains, Riverland, Sunraysia and Riverina growing regions.
The first two episodes are out now, and a new one will be released each Thursday between now and Easter.
In addition to the podcast, a harvest playlist called Almond Anthems 2026 has also been developed and is now available on Spotify.
This is the second year that almond industry representatives have been invited to nominate songs.
Almond Anthems 2026 contains almost four hours of songs, with everything from country to Aussie rock, Finnish symphonic metal and much more.
Some of the nominations had a harvesting theme, while there was also a request for ”anything by Counting Crows”, with farm staff hard at work controlling birds at this time of the year.
