Climate and energy

Our industry approach

Almonds typically grow in a Mediterranean climate with relatively mild winters and hot, dry summers. Sunlight (length and intensity), chilling and heat units, temperature and rainfall are essential factors in tree growth and crop production. However, a variable climate can have adverse effects on tree growth and nut production. By understanding the nature and extent of modelled future climates growers can prepare and develop economically feasible production systems to overcome environmental constraints.
